Melissa Switzer Ph.D. BCBA-D
Owner and Director
Dr. Melissa Switzer is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and founder of Behavioral Foundations, LLC. Melissa received her Doctoral degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Having studied and gained experience under her mentoring professor since 2001, Melissa gained invaluable training and experience throughout the academic years and many more in various applied settings.
Since graduating, Dr. Switzer has worked with a range of ages and abilities, from providing residential treatment services to, center-based and in-home services for children and adults for the last 14 years. After completing her supervision for the BCBA certification, she relocated with her husband and son to Tennessee and started Behavioral Foundations, LLC.
Dr. Switzer is experienced in applying the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis with a wide range of ages, from toddlers through early adulthood. She has experience in teaching communication and language skills, social skills and facilitating peer interactions, developing self care and autonomy regimes, as well as the management of challenging behavior. Dr. Switzer also assists families in IEP support and advocating for individuals in meetings.
Dr. Switzer oversees the individualized ABA programs of many and supervises others on program implementation as a Registered Behavior Technician. She also works directly with many individuals implementing direct 1:1 ABA therapy. From behavior and skill assessments to therapy and family support through training, it is the mission of Behavioral Foundations to provide the individuals and families of the Knoxville area with quality ABA services.
